12 opportunities to turn your passion for travel into a paycheck

Sis, did you know that there are several different ways womxn can monetize their travel planning expertise, without having to become a travel advisor?

You don’t have to buy a ‘travel-based business’ in the ‘largest industry’ in the world, to create a lucrative cash flow. 

Here are 12 opportunities …

1. Blog/vlog about your lived travel experiences, as you earn money through affiliate marketing, advertising or sponsored content. This will require you to be a good writer, as you can expect to pitch yourself to brand so you could get the best, customized deal specific to you, your brand and your niche.
2. Offer tailor-made travel designing services, such as creating bespoke itineraries or providing concierge-style assistance. This will help you to stand out above the noise, and appeal and attract affluent travelers.
3. Create and sell digital products, such as e-books or online courses on travel/experience designing teaching people how to plan their trips. This can include topics such as budgeting, researching destinations, and finding.
4. Start a community of travel lovers and host small, intimate groups of travelers on out-of-the-box experiences.
5. Create a membership site or online community, and charging a monthly or annual fee for access to travel designing resources and advice. This will make selling smoother as you will already have a relationship with your members. In today’s world of get-over and ‘scamming,’ people are gravitating towards caution (as they should).
6. Partner with hotels, airlines, or tour operators as a travel influencer, and promote their products/services through content creation. Pitching to brands will be your bff as you create outreach campaigns to get yourself in front of brands.
7. Consult for companies in the travel industry, and help them to improve their customer service or develop events and manage it all. MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions). This is one of my faves, as I love the introduction of virtual and hybrid experiences.
8. Launch a travel app or platform that offers personalized travel designing services.
9. Create a brand and sell travel-related products like clothing, accessories, or souvenirs, to customers worldwide. In today's world of dropshipping, this will come in clutch, as it gives you control over marketing and sales, leaving the shipping & handling to the distributor.
10. Become a travel writer ~ If you have writing skills, combined with travel experience, you can become a travel writer and get paid to share your story. Pitching, again, will be your saving grace. It’s an art and skill that once mastered, has limitless possibilities.
11. Design and sell affluent travel guides. People will pay to know the who, what, where, when, why, and how’s of destinations and experiences. In fact, there has been an enormous rise in the demand for experiential journeys.
12. Become a travel consultant/coach/concierge and work with clients and brands to help them design their trip experiences from researching flights and hotels to booking the best activities. My industry credentials, as a CTC (certified travel counselor) makes me a consultant rather than advisor, as well as coach, so I am certified to train future travel professionals, as well as host them through my own independent Black-woman owned affluent agency!

Warning…success in any of these ventures require an understanding of the industry, as well as a passion for travel and the ability to market oneself and/or services to a niche/target audience.
